Vastu

Guide to a harmonious life

Vastu, the ancient science of spatial arrangement, as it is commonly presented in the West, is part of the vast and priceless Vedic heritage.

Vastu was given to the human race by God through great sages and saints, who selflessly placed themselves in the position of a medium for the general welfare of mankind since ancient times.

The word Vastu itself is derived from the Sanskrit verb root vas, which means to exist, or to reside. This verb root becomes a noun when the suffix -tu is added. Therefore, Vastu means, 'that which has existence', or 'that which is evident'.

Our place of living can affect our happiness, wealth, health and general progress. Vastu deals with the astrological position of the Sun, Earth and other influential celestial bodies during the construction of an object. It also deals with the location of the object, its shape, the eight directions of the world to which the object faces, the position of gates, doors, windows, etc. in relation to the directions of the world and various other factors.

Everything in this world, including the human body, consists of five basic elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether. The principles of Vastu are mainly based on the order and balance of these five elements.

Many forces govern a person's life, destiny, luck, karma and various other aspects. This is precisely why this ancient and yet eternally fresh Vastu science has been facilitating the life of an individual since time immemorial, making the sweet things in it even sweeter and the bitter things less bitter.
